I fail at geekdom

Wanna hear something sad?  I have never ever been able to do the Vulcan salute.  Despite not being a Trekkie, I still think I should be able to do this as it does seem to be a geeky thing to do and I doubt that all people who use it are Trekkies.  

Still.  My hands do not cooperate.  I've heard it's about relaxing a certain muscle, but I don't know how to do that in my hands.  Which might be the reason I developed tendonitis so long ago and have had to work at keeping my hands pain free since.  

Any thoughts?
