Dragon Charm by grygon Dragon Charm by grygon
Carved from antler. There is a carved-in channel in the back for a cord.

Will be available on etsy soon. [link]

Nice lines, and good workmanship. I assume that it was done with a die grinder. What is the size, what kind of antler, and how long did it take?

From the bottom to the top it is just over 4.5cm (about 1and3/4in) and from side to side almost 5.5cm (about 2in).

I believe this piece came from an shed elk antler due to it's size, I don't have any deer antler that could accommodate it's size and so far I have only purchased two shed elk antlers to use.

I have a diary of time logs that I keep in my shop but right now I am unable to access it due to a foot injury but I think it was about 6 hours or more total. The stone settings took the longest.

It was actually done with a flex shaft and very tiny bur carvers.

Thank you for your comments and questions. :)

I borrowed a friends machine lathe and made "split tube" collar inserts, now I can use all the tiny burs in my pneumatic die grinder. It is not much bigger than a flex shaft, but has much more power, if you can stand the noise. I can control the speed by controlling the air pressure. I can also use the bigger burs in it when I need them.

(I have never been able to keep up with a log, sigh)

Sad to hear about your foot. I hope you get back to work soon.
